YOGA SCHOOL OF KNOWLEDGE: awareness or possession of information, facts, ideas, truths, or principles...all that can be known
August 20th through December 12th, 2011.
Fall Semester Course for students interested in the "off the mat" studies of yoga. This program is designed for yoga students wanting to deepen their mental and spiritual knowledge of yoga without pursuing the skills of a yoga teacher. It is a progressive study of the philosophies of yoga.
The practice of yoga optimizes the health of the body and quiets the mind. It includes a variety of studies including postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation (dhyana), and lifestyle practices. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, which means to yoke, join or apply. Yoga is usually translated as union, for its methods and practices lead to a profound integration of body, mind and spirit. The Yogic ideal is to achieve complete freedom and authenticity by transcending the limiting structures of the ego-personality (the person we behave as on a normal day) and discovering the true spiritual Self within.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDY
Whether you are an instructor or student of yoga, or simply looking to quench your own curiosity, this program has something for you. Taught by scholars and professionals, our continuing education courses and certficate programs encompass the broad spectrum of yogic studies spanning two thousand years of writings/scriptures.
A free information session providing details and answering questions about the Fall Semester program is scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 10:00am, at the Lotus Pond.
The Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health is a Yoga Alliance Registered 200 and 500hr. School and a Post Secondary School offering the Balance and Bliss Academy of Ayurveda.
